What Dignity?

So often I am surrounded by women who are willing to trample on their own dignity, violate the tender truth of their heart and choke their self-expression for others. They call that 'love'.
When another woman is being beaten or raped, some of them say, "She must have done something wrong!"
When another woman does not allow violence and insults to be inflicted on herself and does not allow her genuine inner expression and needs to get throttled, they say she does not have tolerance, love and femininity. They say, she needs to meditate more to cultivate compassion and patience.
I have always been touched by Jesus Christ and how he forgave those who tortured him, as they knew not what they were doing. However, he or his people did not support the actions of his perpetrators. He did not validate their actions to be permissible or right. There is a difference between 'acknowledging what is wrong and then forgiving', and between 'supporting and allowing a wrong action over a long period of time.'
These women claim that a true woman is mature and capable of taking the injustice lying down, and staying quiet - that is the real test of her strength.
Such women still exist in our world. They exist all around me.
The problems in our world today are not because of the violence inflicted by men. The problems in our world today are because of these women who support and allow the injustice dispensed on their sisters and daughters.
